Neat variation on a theme, although Gray Watson's dmalloc does a lot 
more stringent checking and has more debugging features, if the fact 
that a GNU autoconf-supplied macro that checks for dmalloc isn't enough 
of an endorsement.

A couple of comments:

a) DMC does understand <iostream>, if you point your include path at 
STLport.
b) DMC understands "using namespace std;" last time I used it.
